We represented an architecture firm to negotiate an AIA Document B101-2017, Agreement Between Owner and Architect, for the extensive renovation and restoration of an $18 million historic landmark mansion. The project involved a multi-story mansion and adjacent structure on expansive grounds, featuring original designs by prominent architectural firms of the early 20th century. Preserving historically significant elements while adapting the mansion for a new mixed-use purpose presented unique design and legal challenges, including navigating pre-existing design work and associated intellectual property considerations. The adjacent structure was adapted for community use. Our client engaged subconsultants, including structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP), civil, lighting and audio-visual design engineers, to support the project.
