We secured a significant victory for a nationally recognized architecture firm in a hard-fought mechanics lien and surety bond litigation in an exclusive mountain resort town. The dispute arose from a $1.8 million unpaid fee for architectural services rendered on a high-end mixed-use development. The project comprised a name-brand hotel with extensive guest rooms and amenities, combined with a residential apartment building containing a mix of employee housing and luxury units, all above a multi-level parking garage. At first, our firm successfully obtained a judgment against the property owner for the full unpaid fee. However, the case became significantly more complex when a group of the property owner’s well-funded investors, represented by a prominent national law firm, intervened in the litigation and tried to undo the judgment. Undeterred, we continued to vigorously pursue our client’s interests, ultimately securing a favorable settlement despite the added legal challenges and formidable opposition. This outcome underscores our firm’s commitment to protecting the financial interests and reputations of our design professional clients, even in the face of complex legal maneuvering and aggressive tactics from opposing parties.
