Firm Negotiates $165M Science and Healthcare Project Contract

We represented an architecture firm to negotiate AIA Document B103-2017, Agreement Between Owner and Architect for a Complex Project, for a project involving the design of a new, six-story, about 200,000 sq ft building for healthcare and scientific research programs, with our client’s total basic compensation of about $13 million. Our client’s scope of services included programming, design, and construction administration for a facility encompassing teaching and research labs, offices, and support spaces. The design adhered to existing planned development guidelines and incorporated sustainable features like sewage heat recovery. The project used a fast-tracked, multi-phase approach with four bid packages, including demolition of an existing structure and early commencement of substructure work. Our client assembled a team of subconsultants, including structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection (MEP/FP), civil, landscape architecture, and a collaborating architecture firm, with the possibility of adding specialists in acoustics, lighting, graphics, elevator, and wind tunnel consulting.
