Firm Negotiates $45M Historic Theater Renovation Contract

We represented an architecture firm to negotiate an AIA Document B101-2017, Agreement Between Owner and Architect, for the renovation of an historic theater with the project owner. The $45 million project, part of a nearly $90 million redevelopment, involved the restoration and adaptive reuse of a long-shuttered landmark theater. Our client’s scope of services included architectural, structural, and mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection (MEP/FP) engineering (with consultant coordination, documentation, a basis-of-design narrative, and design-assist services during construction), facade restoration, and food service consulting. The redevelopment also includes the addition of retail and office space, as well as affordable housing units, integrating the historical structure with contemporary community needs. The project is financed through private investment and public funding, and the revitalization of this theater promises to contribute to the cultural landscape and urban revitalization.
