$150M Pharmaceutical Facility Contracts Negotiated by Firm

We represented an architecture firm in contract negotiations for a new million pharmaceutical manufacturing facility, with expected construction costs more than $150 million. The project involves a multi-story building designed for advanced pharmaceutical production processes, including cleanrooms, laboratories, specialized equipment platforms, and temperature-controlled storage areas, to be executed under a design-build method of project delivery. The design required extensive coordination between multiple stakeholders, including the architect of record and its consultants, and process design architects, engineers, and the client’s internal subject matter experts, and others, to integrate complex building systems and meet stringent regulatory requirements. Our client, the architect of record for master planning and the base building, engaged our firm to negotiate not just their substantial agreement with the design-builder, but also their AIA Document C401-2017, Agreement Between Architect and Consultant, addressing the complex interplay of responsibilities and information exchange between the various design disciplines.
