We represented a consulting architecture firm to negotiate an AIA Document C401-2017, Agreement Between Architect and Consultant with the architect of record for a landmark six-story, 50-unit affordable housing project with ground-floor retail and parking, and construction costs of around $26 million. A key aspect of our negotiation involved precisely defining the consultant’s scope of services, which included helping the architect of record in converting the project from a modular design to conventional construction. The agreement covers services from schematic design reconciliation through construction administration, outlining responsibilities for each phase and clarifying the collaborative workflow between the two architecture firms.
