Representing the architect, we negotiated an Owner-Architect Agreement with counsel for the owner for a significant expansion project at a prominent mountain resort in the West, with an estimated construction cost of about $30 million. The project encompasses two phases, aimed at modernizing and expanding the resort’s facilities. The architect’s scope includes master planning and design for a multi-faceted project involving integration with existing structures and infrastructure. This required careful consideration of both aesthetic and functional aspects, balancing the resort’s desire for a contemporary upgrade with the need to maintain its established character. Adding to the complexity, the project was executed while maintaining resort operations, requiring careful planning and phasing. Our client’s design solutions also address the unique challenges posed by the site’s topography and environmental considerations, incorporating sustainable practices and maximizing the use of natural light and surrounding views. The agreement outlines the architect’s role in overseeing the project through construction administration, enabling coordination between various stakeholders and targeting high standards of quality and craftsmanship.
