We represented an acclaimed architecture firm to negotiate a delicate AIA Document B101-2017, Agreement Between Owner and Architect, to take over as architect of record for the construction administration phase of an 8-story, 300-unit multi-family residential project with amenities and parking and a $40 million budget for the cost of the work. The project owner was in a dispute with the prior architect concerning alleged design defects, adding complexity to the negotiation. The agreement limits our client’s liability for pre-existing design issues which it was tasked to help untangle.
