We represented an architectural firm in contract negotiations for interior design services, using the AIA Document C401-2017, Agreement Between Architect and Consultant, with the lead architect on the project. Our client’s scope encompassed interior design and lighting design for a renovation project within a multi-story building in a major U.S. city. The prime architect on the project served as the architect of record, responsible for stamping and sealing the construction documents. The project involved a comprehensive overhaul of building systems and interiors. A detailed Scope Matrix clearly delineated the division of services between our client and the prime architect. Our client’s fee for the interior design and lighting portion of the work was about $210,000.
